Summer Loftin:

Summer Loftin Antiques provides curated antiques to discerning collectors and to home owners seeking heirloom-quality pieces that reflect their lifestyles. “Some traditions are worth holding on to,” notes founder Summer Loftin, who learned about decorative objects as a youth in Mississippi. “Antiques infuse a residence with the character and quality of the ages. Caring for an object means expressing appreciation for the individuals who crafted it and passed it down.”

Summer earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Mississippi, an experience that taught her that “collecting is not about owning things. It is about being a steward of tradition and a patron of the arts.” To continue her passion, Summer studied appraising at the University of Georgia.

At the age of 23, Summer began traveling to Europe to procure antiques. She managed a notable antique gallery on Miami Circle in Atlanta for seven years, making valuable industry connections. In 2010, increasing demand from private clients led Summer to branch out on her own. She is an accredited dealer on 1st Dibs and a fixture at Peachtree Battle Antiques, in addition to consulting clients on a freelance basis.

Summer has participated in four show houses for the St. Philips Cathedral Inspiration House showing her love of interior design and her work has been published in magazines including Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Atlanta Improvement Magazine, and GO Magazine.

“I can't imagine doing anything else,” she notes. “My dream is that a client and I go through the process of curating their collection together. Quality is more important than quantity and beauty is in the details.”

Our artist in residence program was dependent on a cluttered and sad space. Ms Loftin saw the need of our non profit to have a space to excite and invigorate the inspirations of artists. She created just that space for us. By reusing and mixing creative elements of the Garden's own art collection we now have a space that helps the artist reflect and create in style...Summer created a space that is increasingly rare in our world: the opportunity for the artist to disconnect from their hyper connected lives and experience the feeling of wonder that is Howard Finster's Paradise Garden.
